Aizu Misato Town Tourist Guide

Aizumisato Town, which is said to be the birthplace of Aizu, is full of attractions and experiences.
Visitors to Aizumisato Town will be guided by a tour guide to sightseeing spots such as the Takada area, which is associated with the high priest Tenkai, and the Mukaihaguroyama Castle Ruins, one of Japan’s largest castles.

Guide Course

Tenkai High Priest Town Walk 1 Approx.

This tour will take you on a tour of the roots of High Priest Tenkai, who served three generations of the Tokugawa Shogunate. You will visit Seiryuji Temple, which is related to the birth of High Priest Tenkai, and Ryuko-ji Temple, where he is said to have attained enlightenment.
Tenkai High Priest Town Walk 2 Approx.
150 min.
We will guide you to temples and shrines that are related to Tenkai High Priest and Houdou-ji Temple, which is said to be ”Aizu’s Zenkoji-sama”.
Mukaihaguroyama Castle Ruins Approx.
120 min.
We will take you to Mukaihaguroyama Castle Ruins, one of the largest mountain castles in Japan. We will walk along the promenade with a guide.
Hoyo Temple Approx.
60 min.
We will show you the precincts of Hoyo Temple, which has a three-story pagoda, which is rare in snow country, and a statue of Kongorikishi, a national important cultural property.
Nakata Kannon Approx.
30 min.
We will take you to Nakada Kannon, one of the three Aizu Korori Kannon. We will talk about the temple’s history and the legend surrounding the main image of the eleven-faced Kannon.
Sakudari Kannon Approx.
30 min.
We will take you to Sakudari Kannon, which is said to have existed since the Heian period (794-1192). The three-story temple built to cling to the rock face is a sight to behold.

Expenses A guide fee of 2,000 yen will be charged per guide for up to 2 hours.
(Additional charge of 1,000 yen per hour will be charged if it exceeds 2 hours)
Application deadline Please apply at least 10 days prior to the date you wish to be guided.
